Bill Signing Ceremony for HB 417

Success!!
Bill Signing Ceremony for HB 417
THANK YOU HAWAII RESIDENTS!

Earlier this year during the Hawaii State Legislative Session, Senator Josh Green introduced House Bill 417 to the Senate. This bill appropriated funds to the Hawaii Health Service Corporation Primary Care Training Program (Residency Program).

During this time, the Hilo Medical Center Foundation asked for help from the rural and various communities of the state of Hawaii to support House Bill 417 by providing testimony. The response was overwhelming! Thank you! The Legislators heard the voices of the state of Hawaii, and they voted to approve a $1.8 million appropriation for the program. On July 9th, Executive Director Lori Rogers joined with other members of the Hilo Medical Center to attend a public signing ceremony with Lieutenant Governor Tsutsui.

This is wonderful news, and a huge benefit for our community, but the fight isn’t over yet! The Foundation will continue to help and work for this worthy cause.
