On June 1, 2013, the Rotary Club of Hilo hosted their first Brewfest on the grounds of the Wainaku Executive Center. The Brewfest offered samples of 20 different beers, both locally and from the mainland. Foundation Executive Director Lori Rogers volunteered as a beer pourer and said that the event was packed and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves!
On September 6, 2013 the Rotary Club of Hilo presented Lori Rogers, Hilo Medical Center Foundation Executive Director, a check for $13,574.08 to further the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation Primary Care Training Program (HHSCPCTP). President Kerry Glass expressed why the Rotary Club of Hilo supported the HMCF, “We Rotarians want the best for our community and good medical services in Hilo will insure that the community has good health care. The community’s support of our fundraising for this program sends a message to our legislature that we feel this is vital to our community.”
The Foundation would like to congratulate the Rotary Club of Hilo on their first widely successful BrewFest! We would also like to extend our deep gratitude for their donation of a significant amount of the proceeds from this event to the Hilo Medical Center Foundation in order to help promote the HHSCPCTP. Through past events, the Rotary Club of Hilo has been consistently devoted to helping fund this statewide Residency Program through a number of their events, and we cannot express enough our gratitude to this wonderful group of community members!
