The Hilo Medical Center Foundation hosted their “Adopt-A-Room” Donor Appreciation Celebration on May 16, 2014 to thank all of the community, business and private donors. The donors that attended the celebration were able to view the newly renovated rooms and the plaques that were displayed with their names or in memory of a loved one.
The Hilo Medical Center Foundation (HMCF) and the Hilo Medical Center (HMC) kicked off its “Adopt-A-Room” Campaign back on September 12, 2012. The focus of this campaign was to have 32 hospital rooms in the third floor Medical Unit of the Hilo Medical Center renovated. The HMC now has 18 private and 14 semi-private newly renovated rooms. These rooms were built in 1986 and were long over due for upgraded technology and aesthetics.
Through hard work, and dedication from HMCF Co-chairs Phoebe Lambeth and Marcella Stroh the Foundation was able to meet the financial goal to make renovating the 32 hospital rooms possible. A special heartfelt thank you went out from Lori Rogers, HMCF Executive Director, to the HMCF Board, HMC Staff, businesses and community members who contributed and worked on this campaign. Rogers stated “to those who did not attend the celebration, we offer our utmost appreciation and gratitude for continuing to donate and help support our community hospital. We really do live in a community with much beauty, aloha, and compassion! Thank you!”
