Hilo, Hawaii – With the cutting of a Maile lei and a blessing by Kahu Kimo Awai, members of the Hilo Medical Center Foundation and hospital staff celebrated the completion of the Shower Room Renovation Project at the hospital’s 112-bed Long Term Care Facility on November 1st .
“This project was important because it directly benefits the residents and patients of the Long Term Care facility at the Hilo Medical Center. By remodeling the shower area it will provide a more comfortable and updated shower room which definitely assists in the healing process. Renovating the shower room also benefits the staff due to accessibility and ease of use improvements. ” said Lori Rogers, Executive Director of the Hilo Medical Center Foundation.
“We are especially appreciative of Dr. Richard Robbins who not only is a HMCF board member, but also wore the hat of project manager and helped oversee the logistics and permitting process with the contractor. Dr Robbins generously donated half of the funding for this important project, and HMCF contributed the remainder needed from monies donated by the greater community. Without Dr. Robbins and our communities help this project would have been difficult to accomplish” said Rogers.
